Food Drives Help Stock Shelves Amid Record Need
This year’s Scouting for Food drive was a huge success, bringing in a whopping 7,312 pounds of food to help stock the shelves of the Sun Prairie Food Pantry! This annual spring drive by the Scouts saw a 7.4% increase over last year’s collection. Thank you to the participating Scouts and volunteers who helped collect and sort the food, and thank you to all who donated.
The Sun Prairie School Food Challenge drive is also wrapping up this week. Last year, students collected 6,660 pounds of food and $3,319 through this annual drive. Watch our Facebook page for this year’s results!. And the Stamp Out Hunger Drive will be happening on May 11. Look for information from your local mail carrier closer to that date.
Drives like these are vital to help keep our shelves stocked as an increasing number of families are visiting the food pantry for help. Local media coverage recently highlighted this record demand across Dane County food pantries, including stories in The Capital Times and on WMTV NBC-15 and WKOW-27.
Your support can make a big impact for our neighbors facing food insecurity. Host a drive of your own, volunteer your time, or make a financial contribution today. Thank you for helping us continue to meet this need in our community.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors - Community Shout Outs
The impact of Sunshine Place programs is only possible through the kindness of community members who provide support through donations and volunteer time. Below are just a few recent highlights of this generosity:
Thank you to Costco for donating beautiful flowers to share with our visitors. And thank you for all you do to support the Sun Prairie Food Pantry. Last year, we received an amazing 185,000 pounds of food from Costco. That's roughly 14% of what we put on our pantry shelves!
Thank you toWest Bend Insurance for honoring Sunshine Place at your recent annual meeting with a Spirit of Silver Lining Award. The award was presented in recognition of our dedication to delivering a silver lining to those in need. We are so grateful for this award and the generous $7,500 grant that accompanied it that will be used to support our mission and programs.
Thank you to the recent groups that sponsored Sunshine Supper. Each sponsor group provided volunteers and food to serve more than 400 meals at a Monday night supper. This past month's sponsor groups included Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, Bristol Lutheran Church, Rotary Club of Sun Prairie, and Greywolf Foundation.
