This year’s Scouting for Food drive was a huge success, bringing in a whopping 7,312 pounds of food to help stock the shelves of the Sun Prairie Food Pantry! This annual spring drive by the Scouts saw a 7.4% increase over last year’s collection. Thank you to the participating Scouts and volunteers who helped collect and sort the food, and thank you to all who donated.
The Sun Prairie School Food Challenge drive is also wrapping up this week. Last year, students collected 6,660 pounds of food and $3,319 through this annual drive. Watch our Facebook page for this year’s results!. And the Stamp Out Hunger Drive will be happening on May 11. Look for information from your local mail carrier closer to that date.
Drives like these are vital to help keep our shelves stocked as an increasing number of families are visiting the food pantry for help. Local media coverage recently highlighted this record demand across Dane County food pantries, including stories in The Capital Times and on WMTV NBC-15 and WKOW-27.
Your support can make a big impact for our neighbors facing food insecurity. Host a drive of your own, volunteer your time, or make a financial contribution today. Thank you for helping us continue to meet this need in our community.
